When you’re looking for a beautiful and unique shelving option that gives you workspace as well as storage, a baker’s rack is one of the best options. Baker’s racks include a counter-like top with several narrow shelves overhead and shelving or drawers below. They can be made in a variety of materials and styles but can be useful in a wide range of situations. For small businesses, they make for an elegant space to keep tools and packing or wrapping materials, for homes they are endlessly useful in kitchens, and they make for a stylish dry bar. If your interest is piqued, we’d love to share some of the different types of bakers racks with you.

Consider Materials

One of the first things to note when considering a bakers rack is that depending on your usage, and you may want to consider different materials. For most homes and some small businesses, wood or partially wood options make for an elegant choice. Wood is durable and stunning, but if you use it for food preparation or liquids, you may need to take care of the surface with more care. Other materials include laminate, glass, and metal, all of which make for highly durable and easy to clean options. Metal is particularly useful if you are using your baking rack in a professional kitchen situation where you will need to deep clean often.

Shapes and Features

One of the many things we love about bakers racks is that they are highly versatile. It’s easy to find the perfect match for even the most awkward space since it comes in many different shapes and sizes,Most use a mix of a full flat shelf at waist height in conjunction with a series of narrow top shelves and a broader set of bottom options including drawers, cabinets, shelves, wine bottle storage, and more. With the full range of versatility, they are an excellent option for most home kitchens as they can help make up for lack of cabinet or counter space.

Different Types

Along with the endless possibilities, there are two very separate types of bakers racks you may want to consider; wine racks and etageres. Wine-focused bakers racks are highly useful for creating an elegant bar set up. They usually offer a limited number of wine bottle slats as well as shelving and a flat workspace. An Etagere is a more decorative option intended for light to moderate weight and use and is meant more for decoration than anything else. While less industrially functional, they are a creative solution for showcasing art and light books and can be useful for small businesses looking for creative displays.
